The sudden disorder brought by the coronavirus has cast a shadow of uncertainty our lives. However, just as life is unpredictable, queerness is also undefinable. When fear appears among people, the only thing we can insist is dispelling it with love and kindness. While we await a return to normalcy, we hope to give you something worth waiting for.
In 2020, SHQFF will still be with you. As always, we are kicking off this year’s festival with the highly anticipated SHQFF Shorts Event.
We are now kicking off the 2020 open call for SHQFF Shorts submission. Following last year’s tradition, this year you may submit your short film to either one of the two short film categories: the Asian Short Film Competition or the World Short Film Screening. Whether it’s discovering oneself in familiar stories or seeking resonance in unfamiliar ones, we look forward to seeing the queer spectrum through your lens.
If your LGBTQIA+ story is set in Asia or features characters with Asian backgrounds, please submit to the Asian Short Film Competition. If your film is about LGBTQIA+ experiences but not Asia-themed, please submit your entry to the World Short Film Screening.
This year's SHQFF Shorts submission deadline is June 30th.
You can submit your film through our FilmFreeway account at:
